Undiscovered Blessings: Now is the Time

…for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. -Philippians 2: 13

You are right where God needs you to be.

We spend too much time wishing for the future and reminiscing on the “good” days of the past. When we find ourselves in a period of difficulty or on the brink of an exciting adventure, we often forget to consider the valuable lessons the Lord is teaching us that very day. We can hope for the future, cherish the past, and take advantage of the now all at the same time.

There was no one better at living in the now than Jesus himself. He knew from the moment he was born that his life would end in sacrifice. Despite his knowledge of things to come, Jesus never complained about whatever his current circumstances were, nor did he question God’s motives. Christ knew that his sacrifice would not have had the impact it needed to, if he just rushed to the cross. Instead, he waited as God moved in his life using him to perform miracles, spread the Word, and change people’s lives. Think of all that we would have missed if Jesus had not taken advantage of the now!

Jesus knew better than anyone that at every moment of every day God is working in us for His purpose.  Right now, right where you are, is a blessing because it’s exactly where God needs you to be. Perhaps it’s not where He wants you to be, but in order to get there you must work in the now.

Use this blessing of the now as a time for spiritual growth, thanksgiving, and learning. Now is the time to continue in your hope for the future while basking in the glory of the now. See right now as a blessing. Right now, God is working through you for His good purpose.
