I Am So Weak!
For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength. -1 Corinthians 1:25
Let me tell you a little secret. I am so weak! Perhaps I’m just fooling myself; maybe that’s not a secret at all. Maybe you can tell when you talk to me or see me out somewhere. Maybe I come off as something other than what my heart desires and maybe you think I’m a hypocrite because I don’t always practice what I (sort of) preach. I’m deeply sorry if that’s how you perceive me, it’s not at all what my mind, soul, and heart desire. But, I am human, I am mortal, I am weak.
And honestly, so are you.
If it were not for God’s strength, we would fall further and further every day without any sign of help or hope. Throughout God’s Word, verse after verse states how we can renew our strength through hope and through perseverance. As the Word has a way of doing, it is the simplest verse that is also the most powerful: …the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength. Imagine what that verse is telling us. Should God even have a weakness, which isn’t possible, it would be stronger than man’s total strength!
I’m human so the equation is very simple: I get distracted, overwhelmed, lost on my walk and devastatingly weak, yet no matter how weak I feel, God is strong. As long as I, and you, look to God and look to Him, He will strengthen me.
You are never alone; no matter how strong or how pitifully weak you feel. If you are nervous, even ashamed, to admit your weakness, come to God, ask Him to open your heart to His help.
If we confront our weakness head on and humbly submit ourselves to God, He will strengthen us so that we may turn all of our attention to His glory. This is what we were made to do! He gives us the strength to do this! Though we may be weak, on our knees, or fallen to the ground, it is God who is strong and He will help us to our feet with Him!
I encourage you to seek Him out when you feel weak. It doesn’t matter what’s causing us to feel weak; all that matters is that we turn to Him for strength.
