A Getterman Christmas Carol

What a crazy week!

Since Kristin is so far along in her pregnancy, we couldn’t travel anywhere for the Christmas/New Years break, which meant pretty much every member of our family was in Waco at some point or another during the course of the break.

Kristin and I celebrated what will be our last Christmas with just the two of us, which is a wild thing to think about.

Well I guess it hasn’t been just the two of us for a while now, if you count our beloved dogs, which we most certainly do…

Our dogs even get a stocking (from Anthropologie no less!).

This is my favorite:

As you can imagine, Hannah and Chloe were very excited about their stocking.

Kristin’s mom gets us dough ornaments to signify something eventful from that year of our life. (Graduation, a half marathon, etc.) This year’s was Kristin being pregnant:

Since I’m kind of weird, I try to theme most of Kristin’s presents every year. This year’s theme was something she’s missed dearly for the last nine months: Running. Here she is opening her new Kayanos, which I’ve spoken about previously.

We love our shoes here in the Getterman household.

After our Christmas, we had a Christmas Eve dinner with my brother Edward and his wife Jennifer, my mom and dad, and my grandparents, at my parents’ house.

The next morning was Christmas! at my parents.

After Christmas with my family, Kristin’s family came in to town to celebrate with us.

Our niece Amelia is pretty awesome. And entertaining.

She was quite taken with our doggie door, which she referred to as “the window.”

I played hide and seek with her, which was great because it gives you a huge boost of confidence when you continually win again and again. Seriously, I’m undefeated in hide and seek in the 2 year old age group. With a little more practice, I think I’ll be ready to take on the 3 year old age group soon. Some people are born with a gift. My gift is an unusually awesome ability to both hide and seek.

She also helped open gifts. (Please note that Amelia and her grandmother have the exact same expression on their faces in this photograph.)

It was an exhausting but fun week. Next year’s Christmas will be even crazier because we will be +1.

Pretty much I can’t wait.
