One of the things that I’m constantly hearing from non-runners about running is that it “isn’t good for you.” This is poppycock and really gets under my skin because it is usually these same people that, when you try to explain all of the research that actually supports the other side of the case, they lose interest. It’s just one of those things, I think, that people have heard for so long that they just believe it to be true no matter what.

Here is yet another article discussing the benefits of running, long distance or otherwise, and how the “it’s not good for you” argument is just a myth. They say myth, I say excuse. I think it gives people an excuse not to engage in the activity. That is one thing people need less of: excuses.
